Tour and trek in Nepal (Kathmandu, Chitwan Pokhara and Poonhill trek 14 Days)

Nepal is full of excitement and natural beauty. This tour includes exploring ancient temples within Kathmandu, rafting the Trisuli river, sightseeing around the beautiful Pokhara valley, trekking the Annapurna Himalayan range and an exotic Chitwan jungle safari.

First, you will enjoy a day of sightseeing around historic Kathmandu.  The next day will be full of adventure as you raft down the Trisuli River to your next destination: Chitwan.  You will spend the night in Chitwan and do a jungle safari the next day through the Chitwan National Park.

You will then head to beautiful Lakeside-Pokhara. The tour includes a full day of sightseeing in the Pokhara valley followed by a 5 day trek to Poonhill (3,210 m).  See the Poonhill Trek for further detail. The trek concludes in Pokhara where you can enjoy a free day.  You could choose to bungy jump, paraglide, or simply wonder the shops of Lakeside.  The following day you will return to Kathmandu.

Trip Itinerary:

Day 1: Kathmandu Arrival
Arrive in Kathmandu airport. Then transfer to Hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu Valley City Tour
Enjoy a full day touring historic Kathmandu.  You will see many world heritage sights including Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath Monetary and Patan Durbar square.

Day 3:  Trisuli Rafting
You can see more of Nepal as we drive 3 hours to Charaudi where we will begin the raft. Beautiful scenery, friendly rapids and warm water is sure to make your rafting day exciting and memorable. After 2 hours of rafting, we will break for lunch and continue the raft to Kurintar where we will set camp for the night.

Day 4: Safari Excursion in Chitwan National Park
You will explore the park first by canoe down the Rapti River. You can see Gharial as well as the elephant breeding center. After lunch, we will proceed into the jungle for a guided safari on an elephant’s back.  You may see animals such as a rhino, antelope and other wildlife as you move through the jungle.  After a full safari day, you will enjoy dinner and native Tharu culture dances.

Day 5: Chitwan to Pokhara
After breakfast, we will do a quick bird watching tour before driving to Pokhara.  Pokhara is a place of remarkable natural beauty. The serenity of Fewa Lake and the magnificence of the Fishtail Peak rising behind it create an ambiance of peace and tranquility. Pokhara is a perfect place to see the panoramic view of Himalayan region including Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

Day 6: Sightseeing in Pokhara Valley

We will wake early to drive 45 minutes to Sarangkot’s high peak to enjoy the sunrise.  After breakfast, we will go sightseeing around Pokhara.  Sights include the international museum, Seti river gorge, Mahendra cave, Devis fall, Bindibashini temple and the old bazaar. In the evening, we will enjoy an hour long boat ride on Fewa Lake. Pokhara is so beautiful, some may even wish to extend their trip to explore the World Peace Stupa or Begnas and Rupa lake.

Day 7: Begin Trek
Next, we will begin the 5 day long trek.  We will start out at Birethati (1,100 m) which is  situated along the Modi River. There are several waterfalls you may take a dip in along the way as we ascend to Tikhedunga.

Day 8: Trek to Ghorepani (2,850M)
It is a steep climb to Ghorepani. Ghorepani is one of the most popular villages along the Annapurna Circuit. Many trekkers, who do not have enough time to trek the whole circuit, still make an effort to visit Ghorepani to view a magnificent panorama of the Himalayas.

Day 9: Trek to Tadapani
Early in the morning, we will trek one hour to Poonhill (3,210 m). There are beautiful views of the Himalayan peaks and flora (including Nepal’s national flower) along the way.

Day 10: Trek to Ghandruck
Ghandrung (2,012m) is the most interesting tribal Gurung village in Nepal.  It has excellent close views of Annapurna South, Machapuchhre and Himalchuli.

Day 11: Trek to Nayapool and Drive to Pokhara
Enjoy passing through more quaint mountain villages and views as you descend back to Pokhara.

Day 12: Pokhara Free day
Sightsee in the Pokhara valley.  Read more about Paragliding or Bungy Jumping if you would like to brave those adventure sports this day!

Day 13: Fly Pokhara to Kathmandu
The quick 30 minute flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu is almost as good as a mountain flight, if you have clear weather.

Day 14:  Depart home
On the final day, explore Kathmandu’s tourist district, Thamel, to purchase some souvenirs before you head home or use the day as you please!
